What is Naturopathic Medicine?
Naturopathic medicine is an alternative form of health and healing based on the idea
that the body has an innate capacity to fight dis-ease and heal itself. One can
improve health by approaching illness holistically, tapping the body, mind, and spirit
resources, utilizing a blend of different therapies, all in an attempt to restore the
body to health in the most natural, noninvasive way possible by stimulating the
body's own healing powers.
What does a holistic approach mean?
Main stream medicine tends to compartmentalize health by focusing on specialities
and body systems. It is the rare physician that will look at all the issues a patient
reports to try and determine what they can do to best address the body as a whole.
One of my favorite authors, Dr. Mark Hyman says in his latest book:
